CBS was wondering which of five new shows to put its promotional muscle behind. While the traditional dial-test research didn’t indicate a real preference among the viewers tested, the facial coding results proved to correlate well with what happened on the air: three flops, a minor success, and Big Bang Theory the show to bet on! Speaking of TV shows, we used facial coding to predict which Shark Tank stars would make an offer after each entrepreneur’s pitch. Our accuracy rate proved to be 84%. Not perfect, but a well-above chance track record as to which Sharks would or wouldn’t bite.
