Actions speak louder than words, and no actions more reliably reflect how people actually feel than what their facial expressions reveal. Charles Darwin was the first scientist to realize that emotions matter, and that in people’s faces they best reflect and communicate their feelings because facial expressions are universal, spontaneous, and abundant. A century later, renowned psychologist Paul Ekman, Ph.D., refined Darwin’s insights into the Facial Action Coding System (FACS). Sensory Logic then added a proprietary scoring system and norms in adapting the tool for business usage.
